Banana Boat (34 replies)

For those of you who dont know. I have to do a cardboard boat race for my physics class. On the off chance you havent guessed, the name of our boat is going to be "Banana Boat". No i didn't chose it, though it fits perfect doesnt it?[005][011]

Alright i promised a few of you a video of the actual race, which takes place next Tuesday. So I thought you should also be kept up to date on what kind of progress we are making.

First off, you get the history, rules and scoring of the event.
Here is the background of the whole event.
Some construction rules
event rules
some possible awards

now on to our progress.

heres the cardboard we start with.

making sure the measurments will work.

Update

So today we were able to decide what type of desine we wanted...finally...and were able to make a prototype.

we started by cutting out 3 scaled down pieces of poaster board
debated the possible ways we could make the front and finally just put it together
then it was time to see if it was ready for the water
then if it would hold any weight
now off to the real stuff (and they decided they were in pics i needed to be in some[001])
and we were able to put in the measurements for the real thing, so we can finally start cutting and gluing it all together[004][018]

American Rhetoric: "Citizen Kane" (1 reply)

If you are confused about the subject allow me to welcome you to my world. This is my Communications assignment, due tonight at midnight. It's actually not as bad as it sounds. The school has provided me with a clip of the movie "Citizen Kane" as well as an audio version and a typed transcript, my assignment is to identify examples of bias, rhetorical devices, and argumentation in 500 words or more. I'm bringing this to you guys for a few reasons:

1. It's an ass-numbingly dull assignment and I love to procrastinate.
2. I promise our wonderfully wicked webmistress (<-rhetorical device) that I would spend more time here.
3. I have never seen "Citizen Kane."
4. The entire speech is 242 words and I'm not sure that even I can ramble on that much about this subject.

So, has anyone here ever seen Citizen Kane? Is it worth a watch? What's so controversial about it?

For those that might be able to help me out, here's the exact assignment:

Answer the following questions in a minimum of 500 words: Identify examples of bias, fallacies, and specific rhetorical devices in the speech. How did the speaker address arguments and counterarguments? Were the speaker’s arguments effective? Explain your answers. I only have 168 words at the moment.[055]
