Hope its okay with you Mattie if I make this topic.
I used to come everyday after school and eat this before I went and helped dad up in the barn, held me over until supper and Rex to come to think of it since I always 'accidently' dropped a piece or two. The other day Memaw handed me a little book today with this recipe in it, some good eatin' I have to admit.
Corn Meal Mush
2 gts. water 1 tsp. salt
Yellow Corn Meal sifted
Boil water...salt... and sift in enough fresh corn meal to make it thick. Stir with a wooden spoon and keep cooking for about 20 min. more. We put butter and sugar on this and then added milk.
Enjoy.

Of course you can post here! I love sharing recipes.
(but did you mean "2 quarts water"?)
I've never actually tried this one, but I've seen it before - sounds yummy. I think I read this is what they used on The Waltons, and they crushed M&Ms into it (the kids on the show said it made it look worse but taste better).

The pie sounds yummy Jess. I don’t think I’ve tried that one with toffee before. And the reason he doesn’t cook is I run him out of my kitchen.
