That IS a happy story Nan. Here's a thought, maybe you can use it to get idiot friend to leave you alone? (I'd start using the term "friend" loosely with that one, but meh, that's me) If idiot friend and this guy are friends, you could go all high-school and ask about him, leaving BIG hints you prefer church guy over idiot guy.
And on another happy note, anyone in the U.S. and Canada who's 18 or over can win a free Disney vacation!!! Check it out!

(yeah, I spent a week plus overtime on those pages, so.... I'm not showing off or anything either )

OK so I've definitely taken advantage of the complaint thread, i think i should do the same here unfortunately i dont have any novels for y'all to read though. But whatever I'll say what i can
So this morning I thought i was gonna be eating breakfast alone for the most part. Roomie and I woke up late. . .again. . .and she was drying her hair when i was just like 'screw it im getting food!' and so i went down to the dining hall and walked in behind someone i had met at the new life "halloween party" he remembered me! not only that. . .he remembered my name yes again pathetic i know. . .but really youve no idea how stoked i was! so we were gonna eat together, then turned out John was there too. So i we went and joined him. I walked around the table and was gonna sit next to john, he didnt just move his backpack from the chair, he pulled the chair out for me. awww how sweet. (although i should watch that, last time i called someone sweet they ended up earning the 'nickname' jerk.)
and then I was coming back from my first class this morning and someone walked out of the door i was going to go in and i lunged forward to sprint and grab it before it closed, the guy who walked out ended up turning around and grabbing the door and holding it for me so i didnt have to run. and on my way to breakfast someone else did the same. I get sooo happy when people do that because stuff like that is so nice and unexpected when everyone else just lets the doors close when you're *right* there. so yea that always makes me happy, even if its not done for me and i just see it

Yay Spain! That's awesome.
Mine's not as exciting as Spain, but I just found out that one of my favorite authors, Scott Westerfeld, has a new book out.

Ok, I admit I'm totally stealing this from another forum, right down to the title (RobertPlantFan, if you happen to show up, THANK YOU for this idea!) I realized we have a Complaint Department but nowhere to post "good things, good things, good things, yeah"! (if anyone can tell me what that quote is from, you get an extra cookie. and no, G, it ain't Grand Funk) This is for posting the little good things that happen to you during your day. It could be getting an unexpected gift in the mail, getting a compliment from a stranger, a free lunch or just seeing somebody do an extra good deed.
I'll start: We've earned enough through commissions and sales that we're actually going to be getting checks from our commission site (one of them) and Zazzle next month!!!

Took my SAT this past Nov and I've checked my scores online, if I added up the #'s right I'm pretty sure I've got a 1460. Dunno if that's good or bad, depending on the college I know, but still, *SQUEEEEE!!!*

I'm going to jump on the spanish speaking band wagon and say: Muchisimas gracias!!
I know i hate, absolutley HATE W/ A FIERY PASSION (sp?), when we have to take standardized tests! takes to friggin long, boring as everlasting Hell (figuratively not literally i presume) and it feels like you're brain is melting the entire time so you really dont feel like you're doing your best.....at least that's how it was for me, idk about everyone else
there's this COMPASS thing i'm supposed to take for a particular college i'm interested in, and i'm already dreading that, but i've got to do it
Not trying to start complaining Mattie i promise! I'll stop now, lol

Hey y'all!
Mattie pointed me over here. I started a thread on 'the place that shall not be named' and she thought I should repost over here. I got a little long winded, so I'll abbreviate.
I've got a confession. I have really bad self-esteem issues when it comes to certain aspects of my life. Weight, for instance. That's been a major up and down thing for me....lately, mostly up. grrr...
Anyhoo, I have found myself so down in the dumps over it that every morning I wake up thinking "Ok, today will be different. I'm going to be good today. I'm going to change something - anything."
Of course, it usually doesn't last past lunch. And the next morning, I start out the same way, and end up another notch higher on the scale and another step lower in the pit of despair. I have downright hated myself for it. I should be able to stick with a good diet - I should be able to exercise regularly. I should...I should...I should. I beat myself up every night, tell myself every morning that today will be different. But... never changes. Vicious cycle of self-loathing.
Now, I KNOW that this is no way to be. I KNOW what I need to do. The trouble is not that I don't hate what I am or look like enough. It's that I need to love myself enough to give a damn. I need to stop hating myself and actually find a little hope; try to find something about myself to love, and work on the parts that aren't lovable. I KNOW this. But knowing and BELIEVING are two different things.
so, Monday night, I finally did something. The lady I take care of went to bed earlier than usual and I found a bit of extra time on my hands. So, before I could think about how tired I was, I went and climbed up and down the basement stairs until i was out of breathe and my legs were cramping and turning to jelly. As I sat down, panting, I realized that for the first time in months I actually felt good about something I was doing for myself.
I know I can't be the only one out there with similar issues. Maybe not with weight, but in some area of their life. You think its selfish to do anything for yourself, or that you aren't worthy of anything good.
Let me tell you, it's not selfish to want to be your best. And you ARE worthy.
So.... I'm going to try and post my 'feel good' deed of the day on here, and I invite you to do the same. Let's make a difference in ourselves, so we can make a difference for others.
I also discovered that Splenda is a horrible chemical that can cause major health issues. My dad has been having seizure-like episodes for nearly a month becuase of it. I know now that its one thing that has been keeping me from sticking to any kind of diet.
So yay!! that little problem has been solved!
ALSO --- found out today that a friend of mine is expecting her second baby! woohoo!!! thing is, her doctors told her she would never have kids. She has a daughter, and now another kid on the way! so much for docs predictions!
Ok, so maybe that wasn't so short.... sorry.
