I know I'm late but I want to say something to this, so here it is:
I think it's quite a bad idea to have Season 6. The show has changed quite a lot (that wouldn't have to be such a bad thing but the quality has gone down considerably in my opinion and that's why I think it would be a good thing to finish the show before it gets really bad - it still is my favourite show and I don't want to see it turn into a bad show) and I think the storylines have become too complicated with all the angel-Lucifer-Michael-vessel thing. I've always had but compliments for Supernatural but Season 5 was sometimes a bit of pain to watch for me. I think it got better in the second half ( I enjoyed watching some of the latest episodes almost as much as I used to love watching Supernatural when I first found out about it). I quite liked how they ended the story in the finale and I don't see many ways how to continue the story in a clever manner, without using the same ideas for a 100th time.
I almost changed my mind about not wanting Season 6 a while back when it looked that Kripke might be a part of the team, too and after watching some of the Season 5 episodes (because I really loved them). But now it looks as if Kripke has lost his say in the whole story and that Sera Gamble has taken over, and I don't like that at all. Moreover, I think the season finale was quite a good way to finish the whole series.
The fact that Castiel stays in the show, and as a regular again, bothers me quite a lot. If the whole Apocalypse storyline is really over, why do they need him now? I know there are many Castiel fans and I know they might get angry with me but I really don't understand why the writers left him in the show now when it has been said so many times that they intend to go back to the way Supernatural had been before. It confuses me. I associate Castiel with the angel storyline (he's an angel after all) and with the "new" Supernatural, and I can't imagine any way how they could fit his character into the old pattern.
I think I will watch Season 6 but mostly because I really want to see how the show will change and if I still like it. I just hope Sera will be reasonable enough and will try to make Supernatural go back to the way it used to be before because that was what I fell in love with in the first place - the story about brothers who, although different, were able to help each other in the worst of situations, keep their bond and show us that family values and love between family members are the things that really matter.
